ABOUT DOGWOOD ANIMAL RESCUE:

Located in Sonoma County, California

We are foster-based, meaning animals are not held in a shelter but are cared for in the homes of our volunteers until adopted.

Gus’ Legacy of Love

This program was named after Gus, a terribly neglected dog we brought into our program.

For 18 days our volunteers doted on this darling boy with love, affection and excellent care only to find he had a severe, irreversible spinal cord injury. We made the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

In his honor we started a special fund that takes the most critical sick and broken dogs and cats, mostly in shelters without options for help, and we fund their surgeries and extensive medical care. Ultimately offering them the opportunity for a beautiful life that they otherwise would not have had.
